‘Long Shots’ Within Reach After Interview Coaching

“Hi Nick,

I wanted to give you an update on an interview I just had.  I was contacted by Paraxel, a global bio/pharmaceutical services organization who saw my resume on Monster for an Instructional Design position.  I saw the job description and thought it would be a complete long shot since I’ve never worked in that kind of industry and am short on the E-learning.

Anyway, I had the initial phone interview with the Talent Manager and used your techniques that we went over.  I stressed my unique style of training, and creative and innovative approach to instructional design, gave her really great examples and she was SO excited about me that she felt I was a great fit.  She said that although I did not have as much e-learning as the job announcement indicated, she said that because the company is changing so much, they are really looking for someone who is creative and innovative and that I really fit the bill in that manner.  She is definitely going to pass my information on to the hiring manager and tell him how impressed she was with me.  So, we will see but before, I never would have even given it a second look because I didn’t think I would have had a chance looking at the job description.

Anyway, wanted to let you know that I used the techniques you said and it worked.  Every time I gave her a great example, she would say, Oh, that’s great, make sure you use that example with the hiring manager.

Thanks a bunch,

Janet A.”
